‘Outside the Beechwood’ is the tale of Macky, a great and furry creature who lives tucked away in a secluded beechwood, never seeing anyone other than his fellow Mackys, and the occasional squirrel and badger who inhabit the wood.

Until one day he finds an unknown creature he decides to call a ‘Smoothling’. The little Smoothling asks Macky to take him home, and so Macky goes to the world of people, across moor and by mountain, and leaves the quiet beechwood for a while.
